VermiBag Mini
The VermiBag Mini is our most popular bag with a surface area of about 2 sf .
It can support a worm population of around 2-3 lbs when running at full capacity.
It is just the right size for many households. It can process the waste from a small family, depending on the amount of waste produced.
A VermiWindow can be added to this bag to allow a glimpse into the wonderful world of the worms. (Very popular with teachers and parents with small kids)

BuffaloNY –
We’ve had our mini since May 2019 and it’s handled the compostable waste from a family of 4 for that entire time, producing rich castings for our raised beds. The bag and built in window remain intact, we probably won’t ever need to buy another one, but if the need arose this one would be at the top of our list because it has worked so well for us vs. the various versions of “worm farms” we’d tried before which really did not.
We keep ours in the basement so the worms are active and producing all year round and for us that location works quite well. The only time we’ve had a problem has been when we didn’t remove castings from the bottom early enough and the fertilizer-rich fluid from the upper layers dried out in the bottom few inches to make a solid block of fertilizer. This is something that can likely happen in all of the flow through worm composters, but is easily avoided by just keeping the bottom zipper closed when you are not harvesting, remembering to harvest your castings once a month and once you’ve done that pressing on the sides of the bag to encourage the bottom to loosely fill again from the layer above. This takes about 10 mins to complete. We keep one of those black plastic, deep wall concrete mixing trays from home Depot under the bag so that any leachate and the castings fall straight into it as we harvest. It’s the perfect size for this and helps keep the floor under the bag clean.
WOne last tip for those considering the Mini, we ended up building a taller stand for ours to make it easier to work at the bottom of the bag. I think we added 6 inches to the height in the end and that made a world of difference for us..
Highly recommend this product because in our hands it worked far better than the various worm farm tray based systems and was far cleaner.
